Today’s auction by British Car Auctions at Blackbushe features mostly post-war classics, but that’s not the only reason this maroon 1937 LaSalle stands out from the crowd. No, the reason we immediately fell in love with this V8 series 50 sedan, is its genuine low mileage, superb preserved original condition. The odometer shows only 1620 miles, mainly because the first years of its life it has been laid-up in a dry and warm garage in Monaco. Although kept on blocks, the 322 cu-in V8 engine (click) has been regularly started and run. In 1947 it was sold to a museum and after 1968 it has been in the hands of only a few private collectors. The car still appears to be as it would have been on delivery in 1937.
