You know it can't be done, and still it happens. It is hard to find 'ordinary' truffle. Even harder to find white truffle. And then red truffle... give it a try for some time. Go there where hen's teeth are a commodity and then take one step up, go for the really hard to find objects. Like an unrestored, untouched 1929 Alfa 1750 SS Zagato... On March 28th 1929 the new car was sold to Mr. Luigi Chinetti, a man not unknown in the motoring scene (read about him: the Golden Era of Racing). Chassis and Engine number show a more then strong resemblance: # 0312864. The license plate reads: 'MI 28658' (Milano). Mr. Chinetti took his car to France in 1931 as he didn't agree full heartedly with the government style of mr. Mussolini. The car remained in France ever since. In this snapshot you can't see a lot of the car, but yes you can see that little has been done to spoil the car during the last 8 decades (click for change of perspective). The new owner from Milan will keep the car as original as possible (click photo to see it when new). When invited for Pebble Beach for the 'Well Preserved Class' the famous concours will never be the same. Your editor has seen the car with own eyes and almost had to weep. Sure you will hear more from this incredible Alfa. The men who found this car - the 'truffle dogs' - are 'Alfadocter' Allesandro and
Marcel Roks.
