Part identification

Letters to the editor
Good afternoon. How are you?

I have found a old motor part I think on the beach where I live.

I have cleaned it up and have discovered that it may be a copper voltage box cover. It could be from a SS Jaguar Daimler of the 1930's but I'm not sure. Most covers I have seen are bakelite but this is copper.

It has markings on it. I've cleaned it the best I can and can see it is a RF50 then it looks like L3 not sure though.
Below that it looks like FR 334305 or 334365 then a 3.

Anyway, is there any way of discovering where it came from, what model of car if any?

I've attached some photos too. Many thanks.

Certainly pre-war. It could have been from an MG VA or WA, both of which had the Lucas RF50 voltage regulator.

Yes, a cut-out cover from a Lucas RF unit; fitted to many cars in the late 1920s including the Austin Seven.
