After their normal working life had ended, thousands of cars have been converted into usefull machinery, like this 1930 Ford Model A.
A thriving industry evolved around the farmers conversion ideas during the 1920’s and 30’s.
This particular car was converted in the thirties from a Tudor model. An extra chain driven axle with double wheels was added in front of the standard rear axle to get a lower ratio for heavy farm use.
On the side of the chassis came a pully to be able to drive a treshing machine through a long leather belt.
This Ford was still operating on a farm as late as the 1970’s but now linguering almost forgotten in a barn in the Dutch farmland.
We know there are still hundreds of these cars around on farms. Don’t be turned away by the general farmtruck; there could be an exotic chassis hiding underneath. Show us (send to [email protected] ) what’s on the farmyard in your area.
