No kids’ stuff

The Austin Pathfinder Pedal Car was based on the Murray Jameison twin overhead cam Austin Seven of the 1930's. It was introduced as late as 1949 and produced in a factory in South Wales, called the Austin Junior Car Factory. Paid for by Government funds, it was run on a non-profit basis, purely for the employment of disabled coal miners. The Pathfinder was only in production for one year, which accounts for the fact that there are not many on the market. Now’s your chance to get one, as H&H Classic Auctions found this attractive example that will be auctioned today. But bring your wallet as a pedal car like this, and its younger cousin the Austin J40 (austinworks.com), are bound to fetch hefty prices. The bright side is that you don’t need to worry about spare parts (j40.co.uk), because this model is well catered for by enthusiasts (photo: courtesy H&H Classic Auctions)
