Ford's first ad ? (UPDATE see Read More)

'..... so simple a boy of 15 can run it.....' Even in the very beginning Henry Ford not only knew about spanners, but about marketing tools as well. This ad (click here to see whole ad) is showing the 1903 FordMobile(note that the ad is showing the detachable rear bench). The real stuff is shown by chassis # 28 (Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, Texas, US) which may be the oldest series production Ford. Interesting sidestep: many of you will know that Panhard & Levassor of France started series production much earlier. Others will say 'No!', it was Rolls-Royce. And again others will shout 'Tatra'!!!' Anyway, Ford is going to complete its first centennial this summer, that's what we all can agree on. But who knows of an earlier Ford ad than this one? Don't be shy just let us know before the 16th of June when Ford has to blow out 100 candles on a cake. (ad from collection Hans Horwitz)
