Back to REO after 50 years !

Pictured here we see Jan Gandrudbakken from Norway - age 79 - at the wheel of the 1927 REO Wolverine which his father used to own over 50 years ago. As a young man he was allowed to drive the REO now and then. The third generation REO driver is Atle Gandrudbakken, a keen vintage car enthusiast. He was succesfull in locating the the REO after an intense and long research. Now the REO is back in the family and last summer his father could finally climb back behingd the steering wheel. Additionally Atle writes us: "10 identical REO's were imported to Bergen, Norway late '27 early '28. They were all converted to Taxis by the coachbuilder Alfred Hartveit in Bergen. During the Norwegian National Exhibition in Bergen in 1928 one of these cars was exhibited and received a gold medal for "superb, tasteful work". Earlier we reported about the new project Atle is after. The 1917 SCAT that was a Bergen taxi even earlier than the REO. We have a a few leads, but so far the right SCAT did not yet turn up. Would you know of any SCAT car in your surroundings, then please write to Atle Gandrudbakken who very soon will start a webpage dedicated to SCAT cars. (click photo for full view)
