We are on our way to Rétromobile today. It's only a 5 hours drive one way when traffic is not too bad on the motorway. With one of the early European endurance trials the 1898 Paris-Amsterdam-Paris it was five times longer. That is to say, with the winning car... So we should not complain to much about traffic. But yes the time that the toll gates looked like this one is forever behind us. This one was near Puy de Dome. Click for full postcard view (Horwitz Collection).
