UPDATE by another expert Christopher Paulsen:"What a great find! I am not sure
it is an Oldsmobile. I restored a 1904 C.D.Olds from a basket case a few years
ago. Most everything is close, but not exact. If it is an Olds, it has been
very highly modified, with many parts added a long time ago. I think it may be a Northern of the 1906-08 vintage. They were very similar
because many of the early Oldsmobile people left and went to Northern."
EARLIER TEXT: Carlos Loisi from Buenos Aires wrote us about this very early import that recently is residing at Reklus cars. They are not sure about the origins of this car. They assuemen it is one of the earliest cars that came to Argentina. "The first car came in 1898. In 1900 nine cars came to Argentian. In 1901: 16, 1902: 28, 62 in 1903 and 129
in 1904. The first car was a tricycle Benz."
Yesterday we checked with expert Carleton Hughes: "Definitely American. In fact the chassis, springs, front axle with it's central spring damper all suggest curved dash Oldsmobile. Particularly the motor and chain drive rear axle housing. Oldsmobile did use this design fairly late, I'm not sure but I think up to 1906-07, and they did have a choice of a front-mounted radiator from 1904 called the 'French Front' but I seem to remember the radiator shape was slightly different. Until I dig out my old reference works I'll say Oldsmobile." Additional comments are welcome as usual. (click photo for engine - ; for even more photos click here (ReklusCars.org.ar)"
