Cadillac's magnificent V-12 was nearing the end of its distinguished production run by 1936, offered in its penultimate year on two wheelbase lengths: the 131-inch Series 80 and the 136-inch Series 85. Both featured modern hydraulic brakes, a significant engineering advancement, while careful engine refinements increased output to 150 horsepower at 3,600 rpm, providing effortless high-speed touring.

Although production improved modestly over the previous year, the V-12 remained exceptionally exclusive, with just 250 Series 80 and 651 Series 85 models produced. Today these late-production V-12 Cadillacs are widely regarded as among the marque's most elegant and technically refined automobiles—a remarkable distinction during the height of Cadillac's celebrated Classic Era.

The Series 80 offered here retains its numbers-matching chassis, engine, and Convertible Coupe body, as confirmed by a copy of its original factory build record. Finished from new in Vineyard Green, it was equipped with chrome wheel rings, a flexible steering wheel, and a Master radio. Most unusually, the original buyer specified deletion of the standard rumble seat. Factory instructions directed that the decklid be reversed and the compartment fully carpeted, creating a spacious enclosed luggage compartment ideally suited for extended touring—a thoughtful feature faithfully retained during the car's previous restoration.

The Cadillac was delivered new through Montgomery Motor Sales of Battle Creek, Michigan, and reserved for Mrs. G.R. Burt. Nellie Burt, widow of George R. Burt—the son of prominent Michigan lumber magnate Wellington R. Burt—was among Battle Creek's leading society figures, and her Greencrest estate remains one of the city's most impressive historic residences. James G. Robinson acquired the Cadillac more than a decade ago, adding it to his carefully curated collection of significant Classic Era automobiles.

Today, this handsome Convertible Coupe presents with an attractive older restoration in honest driver-quality condition, retaining its rare factory luggage compartment configuration and numbers-matching chassis, engine, and body.
