Wings by Paulin (UPDATE II: more history)

Stewart Wilkie from the UK owns a rather unique Bentley MK V. He tells us that it was made in 1941 and while researching its history, found out that it had an distinctive mascot, designed for Rolls Royce by Georges Paulin. The winged B was used by the company on a few experimental Bentleys and Stewart’s MK V is the only one with this mascot. The Bentley needed restoring and first Stewart thought to make a new body similar to the Embiricos Bentley that raced at Le Mans. Then further research revealed that his MK V still had its original Park Ward alloy body, so he thought that it would be sacrilege not to restore the car properly. (Editor: we wholeheartedly agree!)

Hi John
I would be grateful for any information you have, Stanley Sedgwick was mis informed I am afraid, as the Chassis cards show that the car was delivered road registered and paid for in full in July 1941

The UK licence plate that shows in your Bentley Mark V photo belongs on chassis B24AW, which was delivered in 1940 and fitted with a Park Ward saloon body for W.C. Devereux of High Duty Alloys. This information comes from "All the Pre-war Bentleys- As New" by Stanley Sedgwick.

This car was owned until recently by a friend in Victoria, B.C. The engine has been rebuilt recently by another friend in Vancouver. I have photos of the car when it was complete and driving, and also a lot of its history.

If Stewart Wilkie is interested, I can send him what information I've got.

Cheers - John Peirson.
