Vertige de la Vitesse
(Fear for Speed)

Ian Murray reports: "We had a wonderful Scottish Tour - 16 friends took to the roads over the weekend for a 700 mile jaunt. One of the photographs was taken from "Pass of the Cattle" - one of Scotland's highest and steepest roads. A well known car club tried to tackle the pass a few years ago. Those who made it to the top discovered that they couldn't get back down again because of their lack of brakes. A LandRover and tractor took them down one by one. Thankfully we sailed down with little trouble. We also crossed the Glenelg pass to catch the old ferry over over the sea to Skye. I feel a song coming on! The 4 cars on the ferry are a Hotchkiss, Alvis 12/50, my Ghost and a 4 1/2 Ltr Bentley. It might have been an expensive insurance claim if the boat had gone down..."(photos Ian Murray)
(Flying lady insiders have noticed without any doubt the very special flying lady.... 'Vertige de la Vitesse' by the sculptor, G. Poitvin. It's a little different to the usual Spirit of Ecstasy and as one of my friends believes, it is actually the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot when she discovered (click) that the brakes in the Silver Ghost were beginning to fade coming down from the top of The Bealach na Ba!.
