Jack Gyomar sends this great photo postcard form Australia. It took the royal mail a long time to get the cars here. It must be is middle of winter right now. Jak writes: I believe that the photo was taken in New South Wales or Victoria. Maybe the name of the place is Windsor Garage (we doubt this as the first visible letter seems a T, not an S ; VICTOR maybe?). The info written on the back may help." Well I am sure that will help, but in our view the motorcyclew and thne car are of more interest. Is that the bike that would evolve into the Fastest Indian of the World? Probably too early a model for that.
The car with brass headlights is around 1914 we guess. US made, but then what? Note of interest: it's as if the sign is showing the same model of car... Could it be a Victor or Victor Page? Over to you experts.
editor's update: discussion about differences in countries is closed; remarks about the car will be published
If late 1917 or 1918, the body would certainly be locally built because on August 10, 1917, the Australian government banned the import of car bodies. The fenders/wings/mudguards and the bonnet/hood were deemed part of the chassis, and would be 'genuine' Studebaker.
