The Ribbed Radiator Mystery (UPDATE VII: Triumph Super 8!)

Harit Trivedi from India collects prewar photographs, especially those that show motoring scenes from India. Here’s one from a lot of about forty pictures that he recently acquired. It covers the life span of a gentleman who lived on Bombay in the late 1920's. He owned many cars and motorcycles, most of them easily identified but here’s one that has already baffled the minds of many local experts. Therefore Harit turns to us. Indeed the radiator cowl with the odd indentations does not strike us as one from a well-known car. But we’re sure you can come up with a positive identification!

This is indeed the Triumph Super 8. I will look for some pictures of a Super 8 to prove it if you like. Andy Hall is right!

Look at the picture of a Triumph Super Seven on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Triumph_Super_seven_1930.jpg). Radiator looks identical!

I believe this radiator is on a 1932-4 Triumph Super 8, 832cc sidevalve evolution of the Super Seven, and it appears to be a 2/4 seater tourer. The round button would be the triumph 'World' logo which survived into the post war Standard-Triumphs. I am Events Secretary of the Pre-1940 Triumph Owneres Club, and have a 1931 Super Seven , as well as a 1934 Gloria Tourer and 1935 Gloria Southern Cross.

The problem is that I am certain that somewhere I have a picture of that grill, but where oh where ? That is a growing problem in a growing collection. So I did hope a picture from yhe entire car would help. I go on trying to solve the question.

Sorry, this was the only picture of this car.
Can someone show a picture of a similar NAG for us to compare? I could not find on google. Early 1930's is possible looking at the art deco buildings in the background.
So far we have not heard of unusual German cars having come to India, only Adler, Mercedes, DKW, Wanderer, Hanomag, Hansa, Opel and very few Horsch & Maybach, .

Indeed, it could be a NAG.
I don't think a NAG Voran. As far as I know they had slanted radiators.
Couldn't we have another picture of the whole car ?

The radiator markings are somewhat reminiscent of the 1920s German Protos. But the style looks more like early 1930s, so the pictured car could possibly be a N.A.G.-Voran from about 1933, an unsuccessful descendant of the Protos. This had front wheel drive with a 1448 cc engine.
