The Norman Vince of Norfolk Mystery (Upd. at Caister Castle?)

In 1966, Michael Ware and the late Michael Sedgwick went to Bawdeswell in Norfolk to meet Norman Vince and look at his collection. Michael Ware remembers a large shed full of unrestored cars, motorcycles and tractors, with a steam-outline diesel traction engine (Walsh and Clarke?) outside. Michael has often wondered what happened to all these wonderful vehicles and would very much like to hear from anyone who remembers Norman Vince and in particular the two Albert cars he owned, one of which has recently been restored by Richard Peskett. A later owner was Alexander Forbes of Aspatria in Cumbria who might have some further history to relate about the Albert whilst in his ownership. Do you know what happened to this collection? Tell us!

I visited Norman Vince about 45 years ago and looked at some of his mechanical musical instruments. Can anyone tell me if Norman had children and if so do you have any contact details? I wish to enquire as I have a barrel organ he once owned and there may be a story here which the family might know.

In 1966, there was an Albert in the barn collection amassed by Alderman PR Hill at Wymondham, Leicestershire/Rutland. Alderman Hill later set up the Caistor Castle Motor Museum. Maybe he got his Albert from Mr Vince - they were not exactly thick on the ground even then. Also in the barn - a huge Minerva, two post WW1 Silver Ghosts, two Stanley Steamers, a Stoewer, twin-cam Sunbeam, Morgan 3-wheeler, a v. early racing Napier and a whole heap of other cars, mainly unrestored.
