The Margherita Mystery (Upd. 24 HP FIAT 'Sparviero' )

At some time in the early years of the previous century Margherita, Queen-mother of Italy, paid a visit to the Netherlands. She was married to the Italian king Umberto, who was assassinated in 1900, but she became famous of her own when in 1889, the pizza Margherita, whose red tomatoes, green basil, and white cheese represent the Italian flag, was named after her. Queen Margherita is seen here leaving the famous Hotel des Indes in The Hague and stepping into her automobile. It even looks like she is driving it herself! Her automobile is obviously a big FIAT, but what makes us question our own observation, is the script that’s written on the radiator. It’s difficult to read: Spaturino? Sportivi? Spamilano?  Is it a model by Fiat we don’t know about? Or what?
Talking about scripts, be sure to note the magnificent Carello -Torino headlights.

(Update by editor: we found this picture of Margherita crossing the Alps in het Fiat)

The Queen-mother arrived on 22 september 1905 at Hotel Des Indes. The driver was Cav. Ettore Cariolato. They had driven over the Alps via St. Gothard.

I'm quite sure that she is climbing into the back seat. You can see blankets and pillows laid out for her.

Queen Margherita also had the famous Itala Palombella (little dove). Maybe all her cars were given bird names?

It seems to me also that the word is "Sparviero", wich is the italian word for Sparrowhawk. One of Italy's most famous aeroplanes during WW2, the Savoia-Marchetti SM79 bomber, was nick-named Sparviero. And the Queen's Fiat 24HP was certainly a fast car of it's day.

The script reads Sparviero meaning Hawk, I think.
