The Friendly Faces Mystery

You may find it hard to believe, but Paris is more than Retromobile! For a very good reason we are always drawn to the Rue de Presbourg near the Arc de Triomphe. On the corner of the Rue Lauriston stands a grand building that dates from the turn of the previous century. It used to be a hotel especially built for travelers who came to the city with an automobile. The building is richly adorned with several friezes that depict modern traveling of which this is a beautiful example. The balconies are supported by smaller friezes showing the faces of the male and female travelers. It makes us wonder... are these artist's impressions or are these portraits of real people? Do you recognize one or some of them?

The hotel was called Hotel Mercedes. The third 'traveller' is of course Emil Jellinek, also known as Monsieur Mercedes, and the woman next to him could well be his daughter Mercedes, which makes sense of course. Is the other woman maybe Mme du Ghast? Then I see resemblance with Henri Fournier (No.1), Chevalier de Knyff (No.2), Comté de Dion (No.5) and Baron de Zuylen (No.7), though I'm not too certain about all of them. For the last one I'm still searching (maybe Léon Serpollet?).
