The Factory Workers Mystery (UPDATE: early 40's ?)

Off to the factory this Monday morning! Only this isn’t your everyday factory, it’s the Rodgers Hosiery Company located on Brookwood Drive in Athens, Georgia. The aerial photo was probably taken in 1937 or earlier by Ben Epps, a pioneer of Georgia aviation. He died in plane crash in 1937 and this photo comes from his collection. It was send to us by Amy Andrews who also lives in Athens, Georgia. She’s doing a research on the workers of the Hosiery factory and would like to know more about the makes and years of the automobiles surrounding the factory in order to better date the picture. The employees of the mill and residents of the neighborhood were working class, so these cars are probably not high-end models. We realize it will be a challenge because of the relatively small size of the automobiles pictured, but perhaps one or two distinctive profiles may stand out. Can you help?

Car #7 from left shows what seems to be a grill consisting of chrome horizontal bars running across about 50% of front of body. In 1937 there were in my opinion, no US cars with such frontal design and all marques had seperate headlamps and vertical radiator grills.
Car # 7 might be a 1940-41 Hudson or one of a few other US marques using similar frontal design. Photos are so blurred as to be inconclusive.

It's hard to be exact, but some of the profiles look like cars of the early 1940s, so I doubt the photo is as early as 1937.
