The day the cyclecar died. (Upd. after La Fontaine)

The hard to retrace French artist Tito made a series of illustrations with subtle wit. This one is bearing the subscript: "On a souvant besoin d'un plus petit que soi." With our limited knowledge of French we translate this into "One often needs something smaller than one would wish." We are open to better translations of course. The funny thing is that it seems as if this French cartoon inspired later VW admakers to the opposite idea. (Horwitz Collection)
