The Citroën B2 Clutch Mystery (upd. factory fitting?)

Craig Little from Australia send these photos of the alloy clutchplate housing on a B2 Citroen. “It is missing the component that sits under the clutch trust and is held in place by two 8 mm studs or bolts. I would appreciate any help in identifying and possibly locating it. Basically it appears to be a ring with an extension on each side but the parts drawings show little more. Any assistance greatly appreciated.”

Editor: Here´s an article from 2008 how Craig obtained his B2 Citroën.

My thanks to all who responded to my inquiry. Fer Cools explanation clarifies that two special bolts were used to depress the clutch in order to to assist with it's assembly onto the fly wheel. I am about to reinstall engine and clutch I will follow the process.

Craig Little.

Craig

If you would like to contact me, I have a basic parts book for your car and I can email you copies of the various drawings, if that might help.

Thanks for your response. I have two friends who own B2's and neither of their cars appear to have the mystery part either. Surely it would not appear in the handbook drawing if it did not originally exist. Correction on the two threaded holes they are 7 mm.
Regards
Craig Little.

Hi, I have a 1923 B2 and if I remember well there is nothing special in these 2 holes. Actually the clutch thrust has to slide into the big hole of the clutch casing when pushing on the clutch pedal. The fork pushes on the clutch thrust, that initiates the motion of the rotating part of the clutch thrust, then the bottom of the thrust touches the three levers inside the hove of the clutch plate and forces the pressure to decline on the disk thus making the clutch to release. Be sure to put some oil in the bearing of the clutch thrust, not too much anyway.

For further details, see my email!

in the dictionaire de reparation for the 10 hp citroen they say there are 2 special bolts which push the part in place that is standing next to the hole. After assembly of engine and gearbox you have to remove these bolts. There is a facsimily version of this dictionaire for sale at a german firm called RoBri.

I have had my Type A for 40 years and I don't think I have ever used these holes, the engine I have just taken out has no spare bit left over! Perhaps it was for factory fitting?
