Marco Masini sends this fabulous photo from the family album. Click to get the larger view and you almost feel like one of the spectators. The road winding gown form the horizon, nearing a a dangerous passway. See the public keeping track of the race with their 'IPads': Marco adds to the photo: "This photo was shot during 9th edition of 1000 Miglia, April 14/15 1935 . At the wheel of car nr. 39 is my grandfather Arcangelo Periccioli, co-driver is Milton Biagini." It was not a big problem to recognise the car as a Rally, but maybe our well esteemed readers can add to the history of the two man on board and maybe to the history and specs of this specific car. Can you tell us for instance about the "airfilter" box near the codriver? Also we were not capable to properly identify the middle light. What can you tell us?
editor: the mystery thickens, Massimo Campailla reports that according to his data a Rally ABC participated in 1931 with number 39, yet with quite a different team on board, Carnevali/Conconi. (however we found that this team participated with an Amilcar CGSs, being car nr. 39) We could not find this. But... we found only one car connected to Periccioli and Biagini and that was a Fiat 508 Balilla in the 1935 Mille Miglia. Who can bring light in this Mille Miglia porridge?
