The Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) delivered anexhilarating weekend at Wiscombe Park Hill Climb, attracting a sun-soakedcrowd. Rising star Theo Hunt set a new Class 10 record, while seasoned racer Patrick Blakeney-Edwards dominated Class 14. The event also included theexciting Bonham Christie Trophy, introduced in 2022, for the fastest under 30on handicap, which was fiercely contested by 21 young drivers, representing onefifth of the total entry. Mike James and Jeremy Flann set new records inclasses 9 and 7 respectively.
The breathtaking Wiscombe Park Hill Climb, bathed in late-Spring sunshine, welcomed an enthusiastic audience who saw records tumble on the newly tarmacked course. Theo Hunt showcased talent and determination, breaking the Class 10 record and keeping spectators entertained. This promising up-and-coming star displayed great skill behind the wheel, setting the stage for an exciting season in vintage motorsport.
Patrick Blakeney-Edwards made his mark by breaking the Class 14 record. Piloting the iconic Frazer Nash Super Sports, Blakeney-Edwards demonstrated exceptional skill and precision, etching his name into the history of Wiscombe Park.
The event also witnessed Ian Baxter securing the coveted Fastest Time of the Day, while Hamish Cameron-Eveleigh impressed as the Fastest Young Driver. Ben Purnell
received the prestigious Bonham Christie Trophy. This Trophy was introduced in 2022 in memory of Peter Bonham Christie and celebrates the fastest under 30 on handicap. The intense competition amongst our Young Members certainly added to the electric atmosphere of the event.
As always, Wiscombe Park provided an unforgettable experience for the dedicated crowd, delivering both thrills and records. The VSCC once again demonstrated its ability to create a spectacular motorsport event, leaving attendees anticipating the next installment of vintage car excitement in the VSCC Speed Championship.
A not to be missed Hill Climb with the VSCC is Vintage Prescott, 5 & 6 August, the crown jewel in the Club’s event calendar. Be sure to join us for the 80th edition of this historic weekend, filled with vintage vehicles, trade stands, and an open paddock. Enjoy the famous Prescott Hill Climb, drawing competitors and spectators from afar, and don't miss the Orchard Car Park, filled with spectators eclectic machinery - a true sight to behold.
