Suddenly they seem to appear everywhere – old panel delivery vans. Not that long ago we visited a private collection with approximately 25 classic (panel) vans and pick-up trucks. Fire trucks with extendable ladders, ambulances, hay wagons, delivery vans for the baker and the milkman. Almost every make has built at least one type. One far more successful than the other. But well... Back in the days, the vans were mainly used to transport goods and services. Which was also known as 'sedan delivery'.
Where nowadays they are of course still used for transport, but also and mainly as promotion vehicles. The old vehicles we mean. Actually, if you think about it. They have never been away. As they turned out to be so successful they are still part of today's production line by some of the well-known brand, just a new edition. People order products online more than ever, from groceries to clothing. You name it and there is a company that comes and delivers it right on your doorstep. Within a week / a day / an hour. This article came about
Also, our Christmas card included a panel delivery van. The one and only PreWarCar.com promotion car. You probably haven't seen it before as the car only just came into use. After the restoration and lettering, the car went straight to China. Where the car participated in a rally, as you might have read before in our magazine.
Do you have an old transport vehicle yourself, or can you remember one coming around for delivery? Have you taken a photograph of a (panel) van or pickup truck on the side of the road? Please send them to us so we can share it with other car lovers.
