2010 Pebble Beach Winner: 1933 Delage D8S De Villars Roadster

Without doubt Pebble Beach is the most prestigious Concours d’Elegance. To win there means you’re the best and when you achieve the title ‘Best of Show’ you’re the top! ‘Best of Show’ is chosen from among ‘First in Class’ winners through a simple tally of independent and secret ballots cast by the judges. This process is two-fold: Class Judges focus primarily on originality and authenticity, while Honorary Judges direct their attention to design, styling and elegance. From the more than 250 cars and motorcycles this year’s‘Best of Show’ went to the 1933 Delage D8S De Villars Roadster owned by The Patterson Collection in Louisville, Kentucky (click main pic for larger version). According to Concours Chairman Sandra Button this Delage has a short wheelbase that makes it look more rakish, but still retains a long and elegant look. It did 110 miles-per-hour in its day; it could race and was stunningly beautiful. This car could do it all; it embodied style, speed and comfort
