Straight from Kindergarten

The racing MG C-Type is better known as the ‘Monthléry’ Midget. It earned its nickname after the speed records set by Captain George Eyston and Ernest Eldridge with the EX120 prototype at Montlhéry race track in 1931. Although just 44 C-Types are made, they were very popular competitors. When no less than thirteen `Montlhéry' Midgets appeared on the start line for the May 1931 Brooklands Double Twelve, Bentley Boy `Tim' Birkin was overheard to describe them as "a scuttling kindergarten of MG’s which could have done nothing else in the circumstances except win". And win they did, taking the first five places. This C-Type (known as JK2340) is one of the last made, in August 1931. Its early racing career is fully described in the book ‘Circuit Dust’ by Barre Lyndon. After a long stay in Australia, where it stayed competitive, JK2340 has returned to the UK where it will be sold by tender. Contact H&H for a complete tender pack.
