Shades of Blue (UPDATE: no Type 9 engine!)

Although Paris based Artcurial has many British and American cars in their auctions, they always come up with an exceptional French automobile. Browsing the catalogue for their next auction on Sunday, November 16th, our attention was caught by this Citroën Traction Cabriolet. It’s a rare 7S, the high-performance version of the 7, equipped with the 1911 cm3 engine of the Type 9. During the summer months of 1934 only one hundred automobiles of this model were produced of which “our” 7S was one of the first released - on August 18, 1934. This one is also a special version as it has the "Concours d'Elegance" option, meaning it is painted in an unusual tint of blue, called “Franc”; with leather seats, upholstery and carpets in the same shade of blue and pale blue rings ‘round the wheels. Sure looks like a charming combination to us. (photo courtesy Artcurial)

Update by Frans Vrijaldenhoven who points out that there has been no Type 9. The misunderstanding lies in the French expression 'puissance fiscale'. The "7S" (Chassis numbers 20.001 - 21.500) was identical to the "7A", except that it had the engine with a 'puissance fiscale' of 11CV (78x100). The "7B" had the engine with 'puissance fiscale' 9CV (78x80).
