What is it? Quiz #412

We were pleased to find these pictures which give such clear detail, but we had to ask our friends what it was. Now we know, but do you? The car was made in France in 1920 and although we don't know how many were made, production was still active in 1923. The unique design incorporates fresh French thinking - rear V twin engine with radiator alongside with connections to each cylinder. We will leave you to explore the pictures and decide whether the engine and rear axle really are one fixed unit, and tell us what you think of the front suspension? Start with the name of the car, then the more information the better. Check the rules by clicking 'Read More'.

This is Jean Janémian´s fabulous cyclecar, built in Bièvres. Janémian moved to Puteaux in 1924 but was not able to resume production. The car´s wooden main frame member supports the novel front axle with two semi-elliptic springs; 1095cc v-twin engine and rear axle are one unit. 3-speed gearbox, chain drive, and some of these cars had splendid coupé bodywork.

Janemian.

The frame is of wood.
Engin, clutch and transmission are mounted on a yoked frame, the front of the yoke being swiveled on the wood frame.
The construction is such that the power plant and the rear axle form a rigid unit, driving and torque strains being transmitted through this yoke frame member.
The front springs are semi-elliptic, placed crosswise, their inner ends curving upward to form an inverted V.
This construction permits the use of long springs with great freedom of action.
The front axle is secured fore and aft by the triangular wish-bone construction.
