Some time ago Jason O'Brien from Connecticut purchased this Teetor engine that was removed from a Cosmopolitan fire truck. The Teetor was made in Hagerstown, Indiana by the Teetor-Hartley Motor Company, which produced engines for many car makers, among them Auburn, Marmon, Peerless and Stutz to name a few. In 1918 the company was sold, but kept on producing piston rings that became known as Perfect Circle. The serial number of this engine can be found on top of the camshaft housing and reads T 1115. The base and oil pan are cast aluminium. The flywheel and clutch is a Borg & Beck model G, last patent date of 1915. The name plate is on one of the intake valve covers. Jason tries to find out more about these engines and would very much like to know when his Teetor engine was built and how many were produced. Can we help him? Contact us!
Update by Mike Turner: "This motor was also used in both the Pilot and primarily used in the American Underslung. I would think this was made about 1913-15."
