New leaves to Garage in the Green. (see UPDATE)

Equally strong attached to British history like the White Cliffs of Dover or Stonehenge is Hartley Wintney in the rural parts of Hampshire. For ages the establishments around the village green have served transport as stables and an Inn. Since the VSCC (Vintage Sports Car Club) was founded here back in 1934 the Phoenix Inn has been a focal point for all sorts of car clubs Noggins & Natters but equally important is the Phoenix Garage which has always accommodated quite prestigious motoring businesses (and now is restarted by Nick Benwell). Reason also why historic motorcar consultants and broker Morris & Welford LLC took the opportunity to open a branch at this historic place. Mark Donaldson who is actually in charge of this new Morris & Welford branch is trying to compile some history of this famous place and looking for early shots of motoring activities around the Phoenix Green Garage. Can you help ? (text Bas de Voogd ; photo Nicholas Benwell) [email protected]
Update by Rick Ford: Thanks for the piece on my long time watering hole. The monthly gathering of VSCC members was sometimes marred by very self-opinionated members, experts on every subject. One such committee member berated us (from the Jack o' Lantern) for occupying the 'VSCC car park' with a large Rolls-Royce..."...this isn't for Traders y'know" The next month we marshalled the Phantom 2 fleet of seven and, arriving early, occupied the entire car park. Point made (click!)
