Lew Palmer is not only the owner of an MG PB Airline Coupe, he also maintains the worldwide list of all known MG Airline Coupes. The Airline was an attractive body designed by H.W. Allingham and made for MG by Carbodies, although a few were also built by Whittingham & Mitchel. They were mostly mounted on MG's N-Type and P-Type. However, another Airline has turned up with a somewhat different body. This Airline Coupe has several features not found on other N-type Airlines. Note the flush mounted spare, the scuttle vents, fixed quarter windows, differently shaped doors and (probably) roll-up windows instead of sliding ones. We have enclosed a picture of what a “proper” Airline Coupe looks like. Please do study the two and do tell us if you can explain away the differences between these bodies.
Update IV by MG-historian Wiard Krook: “This is an MG NA with chassisnumber NA/0540 that was originally supplied with an Airline Coupe body. Today it sports a replica K3 body. The original Airline body has probably been scrapped. It is indeed somewhat different from most other Airline Coupés. Probably this is the difference between the bodies made Carbodies and by Whittingham & Mitchel?"
UPDATE I by Josef Kubišta: "Despite I cannot add anything to this particular car / body, I am sending the picture of (in my opinion) even better looking MG built by Uhlik, Prague. The car still exist in almost intact shape."
