An Austro Daimler Mystery ? (update: Joswin !)

Jaap Bruynzeel writes: "The picture was taken in Bergen, The Netherlands in June 1921 near the entrance of a large property named 'De Karperton' designed by the renowned architect Jan Wils who also was responsible for the 1928 Olympic Stadion. Seated in the car the family Judell, wealthy coffeedealers form Amsterdam. In the rear of the car is Mr. Judell (with his elbow over the side) who commissioned  the property in 1917. The once wealthy jewish family had lost their assets in the crisis of the thirties and they had to sell the property,  but they remainded with the high influentials. Since short the De Karperton is again for sale, for the second time in a hundred years. "

What happened with the equally fabulous, enormous and unidentified tourer is not known. But it is special in about every aspect. And what's more the car is showing remarkable similarities with the earlier shown 'Austro-Daimler'  The Red Baron Mystery. We're looking forward to hear your opinion.

Hallo,
seeing this foto and the comments, I think Mark Dawber is right. The body is German and the side of the body looks typical Ernst Neumann Neander and he draw many bodys for different firms before and after the Kaiser war. In the first edition of the book Autos in Deutschland from Hans Heinrich von Fersen is a foto of a Joswin Chassis with a similar radiator.

It is a different body from the 'Red Baron' car. More rounded top corner and the sides do not exhibit the concave curve of the other car. This can be seen where the body runs down by the rear wing.
My suspicion is that the square extension is for outboard mounted rear springs.

Regards, Peter.

Red Barons car has lot bigger rear brake drums; differently shaped rear door (w/ cutout that may indicate shorter wheelbase); the front mudguard looks to be of deeper profile. The outer edge of the tulip body seems to be a bit "sharper" than on todays mystery. Yet, the overall similarity is obvious.
