Mr. J.C. Baird's Mystery Roadster (Upd.: 1912/13 Rambler Cross Country)

Matt Hoy sent this sunny picture of a desirable brass era roadster, chauffeured by a finely dressed gentleman. "I'm looking for help identifying the make, model, and year of this car.  Photo was taken in Eau Claire, Wisconsin sometime after 1909.  The driver is Dr JC Baird, a local radiologist.  Any help is appreciated."

Editor: the characteristic parallel bows on the radiator must give away the car's identity.

The riveted numbers on the number plate indicate a date no later than 1913.Wisconsin had riveted numbers on their registraion plates from 1905 to 1913.beginning in 1914 they went to an embossed plate.

This is a Rambler, probably a Cross Country Roadster from 1913, the last year before the company was renamed Jeffrey (and was later bought by Charles Nash to become the basis of his new enterprise. The Cross Country model name was later used for the station wagon models of the Ramblers of the 1960s.

Perhaps the following link could help. A 1913 Rambler looks a lot like it. http://www.cascaderamblers.org/common/closeup.php?frompage=/common/gallery.php&pos=136&PageNo=8&syear=&eyear=&make=&model=&owner=&year=&querytype=&personid=&carid=

I would say it is a 1913 Rambler roadster. The radiator is very distinctive for Ramblers. In 1912 the Rambler was still using kerosene side lamps. This had a 4 cylinder motor, 42 hp, and a 120" wheel base. 1913 was the last year of the Rambler. Makes sense a local dotor would be driving a Rambler as they were made in Kenosha Wisconsin.

The upward-curving bars on the radiator make it a Rambler. The electric sidelamps argue for 1913.
