Mademoiselle Vendredi prepares for Rétromobile

Paris is famous as a city of glamour and romance, and what could be more glamorous than a Delahaye elegantly clothed by Figoni et Falaschi, a Delage dressed by Letourneur et Marchand or a Bugatti wearing Saoutchik? What, for that matter, could be more romantic than getting lost in the back streets of Paris with your chérie, stumbling into a quiet alley out of sight of the rest of the city, falling against a fence and then spying, through a hole in the wood, a yard full of long forgotten veteran and vintage cars...

That's exactly what you can expect to find at Rétromobile - everything from the finest cars bodied by Paris's most celebrated carrossiers, to barn-finds newly dragged out from some boarded-up garage or overgrown field. From the dawn of motoring to the classic years, and from the everyday to the exquisite or obscure, Rétromobile promises plenty to fascinate every kind of enthusiast.

It's no wonder the Deliniere sisters have travelled halfway around the world to get to the front of the queue. They set off from America with their 1930 Packard Standard Eight convertible coupé and, after a leisurely drive down from the port of Le Havre, are presently enjoying the sights of the Bois de Boulogne.

They won't miss Rétromobile for the world, though, and will be there as soon as the doors open on 1st February. If you want to see hundreds of superb pre-war cars, fascinating club stands, automobilia stalls, some tempting auctions and more, you'd better make a bee-line for it, too.
