Reading, building and driving a cyclecar

Reading a book on how to build a cyclecar is one thing, but actually building one is a much more challenging task. But Tim Gunn has done it. And why not? Anyone who knows Tim or watches the TV programme 'The Repair Shop' knows what he is capable of.

1919 Grafton cyclecar

Recently Robert from Gasolini visited Tim's workshop to talk about his 1919 Grafton cyclecar. Enjoy the video.

And if you want to build one yourself, Tim has made copies of the book that you can order here.

The Gunn family are well known in VSCC circles, Tim`s father did some machining for me on a replica vintage Austin Seven supercharged engine a long time ago and Tim did some work for me on my Vintage Bentley projects. It was a real pleasure to meet him, look around the farm and all those projects that he was working on.
These cyclecars are so evocative of the early years of motoring and looking at the video got my juices flowing so that I will definitely buy his book.
I would love to build one but would I drive it on the public roads on skimpy brakes and skinny tyres like that? That`s a different question!
If you would like to read all about building at the other end of the scale, have a look at my website vintage bentley blog. no book available.
Well done Tim,
Alan

This is such a brilliant creation, every time I see it, or film I just go weak at the knees. If only I could find enough bits to make a start! Thanks so much Tim.
