Press release
With the first cars and the meeting of their owners was founded in January 1899 the Club Automobilisti Veneti, which promoted the organization of an important motor race completely within Veneto.
Thus created, the Prova di resistenza per Veicoli Automobili province Venete was organized on 19th June, 1899, and integrated in the big programme of the Fiera del Santo in Padua.
Choosing the better roads of the time, a circuit of 107 miles (172 km) was created, starting and finishing in Padua and passing through Vicenza and Treviso.
Twenty-two cars at the started and only fifteen reached the finish. The winner was Ettore Bugatti with his Prinetti & Stucchi tricycle, at an average speed of more than 27 mph (44 km/h).
The Circolo Veneto Automoto d’Epoca wants to commemorate the first motor race of Veneto with an event exclusively reserved for ancetre cars (pre-1904 production).
The start and finish will be in the city of Bassano del Grappa, where the CVAE is based and the original track passed through in 1899, for a trip of about 50 miles (80 km), along peaceful and flat country ways passing through Castelfranco Veneto and Cittadella to remember the original three provinces of Veneto.
Along the route there wil be some pleasant stops for the cars and passengers at prestigious Venetian villas and important historic palaces and monuments, as well as the mediæval walls ofthe town. The organisers will provide support vehicles throughout the event.

Being passionate about vintage cars, I would appreciate information regarding the departure location and the approximate time. I live in Cittadella and I read that it is planned as a passage or stopover. Thank you.
