In the centre of attention

This is class and style! Classic cars are very often the centre of attention. Certainly this time! Worldwide Auctioneers shows us exclusivity at the Pacific Grove Auction, which will be held on the 15th of August 2019.

1912 Simplex Model 38 Touring

We just did not know where to start! Therefore we decided to show our personal favourite first. A breath-taking 1912 Simplex. This sporty four-passenger model 38 has a touring body built in the style of Holbrook. It has the Simplex name proudly scripted in brass across the radiator. This attractive Brass Era Simplex is powered by a large 476 cubic-inch four-cylinder T-head engine that develops 40 horsepower and is equipped with a rare period-correct Rushmore starter. A very usable and eye-catching car in a show worthy condition.

Stevens-Duryea Model X Touring

The second car we would like to show you is an important piece of the Duryea brother’s history. A luxurious and comfortable looking 1908 Stevens-Duryea Model X Touring. Although the car is titled as 1908, the serial number seems to indicate it to be a 1910 model and it carries the larger 36 hp engine. The Model X, as can be seen here, is a comfortable large open-air tourer with a four-cylinder L-head 36 hp engine were built for only two years. The auction catalogue tells us that all the brass accessories are original.

After the first owner of the car Mr Henry Treadwell enjoyed and drove the car for more than 40 years. He bequeathed the car to the famous Henry Austin Clark, of Long Island, New York. Clark put the car in the centre of attention in his Long Island Auto Museum where it was seen by thousands of people over the years. We are very pleased to tell you that even though the car was part of the museum collection Clark also used the car (which is on film). He, for instance, participated several times in the legendary Glidden Tour and participated in the Carnival of Cars in New York City (which is also on film). This beutiful Stevens-Duryea is now offered to the public and remarkably enough this will also be the first time it has left Long Island, New York. We are curious where its next home will be!

1898 Riker Electric Stanhope

Now we have something totally different than the two previous cars. An 1898 Riker Electric Stanhope which will also be auctioned by Worldwide Auctioneers. If you would like to participate in the upcoming London to Brighton Run this is definitely a veteran to consider buying. Also if you are a regular at this prestigious event and would like something and maybe a little bit more challenging this year, you should have a look at this amazing original electric Riker. The car was built and raced by creator Andrew Riker, a green energy pioneer. An irreplaceable piece of history in an unrestored condition. Previously owned by the Riker Family and The Henry Ford Museum. The electric car participated – and won - the very first 50-mile road race held in America; reported to reach an incredible 40 mph. Because of its history this is maybe even one of the most important electric cars ever built. Would you drive it or display it in your own (private) museum?

Other centrepieces

One of the other centrepiece PreWarCars that will be auctioned is e.g. this very reliable and highly desirable Twin-Six. A 1932 Packard Coupe Roadster from 40 years of continuous ownership. Another one of just two examples built, is this 1930 Cadillac V-16 Imperial Landaulet Cabriolet. A genuine 'Madame X' retaining its original chassis, engine and body, which certainly represents the very pinnacle of the Golden Age of the Motorcar. Then there is also a 1931 Cadillac V-12 Series 370A Roadster. This matching number car has its original factory roadster body and is accompanied by a GM Cadillac Heritage Certificate. Then last but not least this 1936 Bentley 4 1/4 Litre Coupe. Fine British elegance with 126 HP!
