Happy Valentine's day!

Happy Valentine's day from us at PreWarCar.com. A day to spend with your big love.

Initially, this day was to honour an early saint named Valentinus. Today, Valentine's Day is recognised as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love. And when we think about love, 3 things come up: our family, Paris and of course, cars! Well, let that be just the ingredients of our last week.

Last week, Salon Rétromobile took place. We were present in Paris with the PreWar family, to look for cars!

Some highlights of a fantastic week:
  • The auctions are always a spectacle. Especially when a 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Berlinetta Touring came on the block at Artcurial. It was the car that everyone talked about for the last months. The most expensive PreWar sold at auction for 17,2M Euros (incl fee). It will come in an American collection, and hopefully, we will see it again on the road (or the fields of Pebble Beach).
  • A highly original Labourdette bodied early Renault and De Dion Bouton Vis-a-Vis at the stand of Coupe, Pueche.
  • The impressive 1932 Rolls Royce Phantom II that was first owned by Mr Esders and now by Christoph Grohe, who brought it back in the clean style that it was initially ordered by Letourneur et Marchand. Just as the Bugatti Royale that Mr Esders owned, the car does not have headlights, nor a spare wheel. We hope to have a more extensive feature about the car later in our online magazine.
  • The running exhibition of De Dion Bouton vehicles at Club de Teuf Teuf, including the single cylinder engines on display.
  • The million pound plus collection of Vintage and Prestige Cars, like the good running 1911 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Roi des Belges Tourer that made our day start well (see video here),
  • A 1908 Mercedes 45HP at the stand of Axel Schuette; a chain-driven, big early motorcar as cars are meant to be.
  • The original 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C1750GT Berlinetta Aerodinamico Mille Miglia that is for sale at Fine Automobiles and that we featured earlier (click here).
  • There were many Bugatti's on the show, but our favourite was the Bugatti Diatto 8C project that was, just like the many Bedelia's were, on the stand of Vintage Revival Montlhery. We will have a feature about this mighty eight-cylinder engined Bugatti in the near future.

Perhaps the most significant highlights were all the friends who visited our stand. We enjoyed your company, the fantastic stories and the many laughs we had. Thank you! This is what a car show is all about. Enjoy your Valentine's day!
