Getting ready for Brighton: Veteran Car Week!

Next weekend will be about the famous London to Brighton Run. A young PreWarCar.com crew is, just like hundreds other crews, putting their last efforts into their antique machinery. Less than a week from now the normally quiet Sunday morning at Hyde Park in London will 'broadcast' the heartbeat of some 430 very very old motorcar built before 1905.
The next few days PreWarCar.com will only be about this earliest category; veteran cars. Things started already with the weekend quiz  (who knows Peggy; you can send in until 23.59 hrs London time tonight).  Tomorrow you can read about what cars Bonhams is offering in their London sale this Friday.  Wednesday a little tech-talk about fettling a veteran car. Will you be spectator or participate with the Veteran car run next weekend, let us know in a comment below or send a picture of the car you will be driving! But probably you're far too busy to choose the right polar underwear, wellies and more. In that case look out next weekend for the young PreWarCar - startnumber 228 - team in a 1903 Bolide.

To start of the countdown, we have the very nice starting line-up above. Looks like some 'Brighton' Panhards.  Can you tell what cars they are exactly?

I would suggest from left to right, Panhard, Mercedees, Panhard, Panhard, Renault. Second from left might also be a Berliet. The Renault may be later than 1904 looking at the radiator shape.

I am going to London this weekend for my third London-to-Brighton in a row. Unfortunatly I cannot enter myself, but I've been hoping for a few years now to hear one of the drivers say the golden line: ''I want passengers''. I do own a replica of an 1889 Daimler Stahlradwagen. I built it myself out of two bicycles and a lawnmower engine. Offcourse this car can't enter, because the only real veteran part is the antique brass headlight. However looking at the entry list and the weather forecast, I think this will be a fantastic edition.

P.S. I will be sending in a picture of my Daimler very soon.
