From the family album: A Dürkopp?

Another photo popped up on the family album. This one was sent by Hein Brand. The car that we see, is probably a Dürkopp. A German car builder that started around 1899 with two-cylinder powered cars. According to the Georgano bible, Dürkopp was specialized in heavy types of touring cars. Which were based on a racing car developed for the Kaiserpreis race of 1907. This car seems to us a bit younger, let's say 1914. A tourer indeed. Earlier at prewarcar.com, a mystery was solved. The car back then was identified as probably a Dürkopp EK6. Is this the same car again? Let us know what you think it is!

This is definitively a pre-WW1 Dürkopp.

While the photo was taken from an almost ideal angle the precise type is difficult to assess. This is due to the deplorable fact that many of the German car marques of that era are poorly documented.

While sufficient information is available for the postwar P-types built by Dürkopp you'll find hardly any original photographs of the earlier models.

From the overall appearance and dimensions I'd guess the car in the photo is a medium-sized NG-type which was built from 1912 until 1914 and was available with 10/30 or 13/45 h.p.

Hans Heinrich von Fersen's book "Autos in Deutschland 1885-1920" shows two contemporary pictures of similar cars which von Fersen labelled as NG types (the book is not always a reliable source, however).
