Filming a Bugatti in action

After the picture of the Rolls-Royce Phantom camera car that we published in our online magazine last week, we would now like to show you these images. The first one is of a Bugatti (Type 43?) with camera equipment mounted on the front of the car. The driver, both actor and cameraman, takes his own shots.

These pictures were pointed out to us by a reader and originate from a 1934 Almanac Citroen. The accompanying text tells us how, from the early days of film, the automobile became a protagonist, a character that could not be missed. It was not until 20 years later, however, that the valuable services it could render as an adjunct to the camera were realised. "For example, the race at Montlhéry in a well-known film. To give the impression of speed, the struggle to overtake and the danger, cameras were mounted at ground level on the running boards to film the cars taking the bends. Another was placed close to the driver to show what he saw on the road ahead as well as enabling him to be filmed behind the wheel.”

In the second photo we see another Bugatti (does anyone recognise the Type?) being towed by a camera car for some action shots. Going back to the lead photo in which licence plate 1178-RE5 is clearly visible, can anyone tell us more about the car? Maybe even in which movie it was used and whether it is still around. We would love to hear from you.Filming%20a%20Bugatti%20in%20action%20(2).jpg Please comment below if you can help us solve this Monday Mystery.

Judging by the tow hook from the picture and from what I gather in the attachments, it is a T35 Grand Prix with registration number 4922 NV1 (France). The same registration was given first to a T51A by Automobiles Ettore Bugatti on the 15th of July 1931. But if you look at the narrow shaped radiator and the bonnet that doesn't have a blower release hole, the car in the film is not a T51.
I think the pictures are not related, apart from the fact that they are two Bugattis that appear in films.
All of my remarks are conjectural and based on the small information I could find online, so anyone that can affirm or refute my comments is welcomed.

In december 1931 film director Paul Fejos (Pál Fejös) recorded (one of many remakes of) the French film "Fantômas" for a firm called Braunberger Richebé. Several racing Bugattis featured in this film, racing scenes were shot at the Linas Montlhéry circuit.
see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8VBeWYzblU (racing Bugattis visible from around 1:00:00)
It could well be that the racing Bugatti photo is from the time this fim was recorded.

The first picture has been published before on bugattipage.com https://www.bugattipage.com/newspics2/studio1932.jpg where this information is given: "The actor in the Bugatti is Fernand Gravey (actually Fernand Maurice Noel Martens born in Belgium in Ixelles in 1904 or 1905) in the Paramount studios near Paris (Saint Maurice, near Joinville le Pont) in 1932. The film title is Passionnément by René Guissard. Fernand Gravey worked for Paramount at that time." The car is obviously a T43 with French registration plate.

The car in the second picture is a GP, possibly early T35?
