Famous Star prefers Dodge
To be honest we had never heard of Claudette Colbert before we saw this advert. Born in France, but raised in New York she was indeed quite famous, making both comedy and drama films in the 1930s. No wonder the Chrysler Corporation picked her to advertise their 1936 “Big Money Saving” Dodge.

My father's first car, acquired about 1953, was a 1936 Dodge. For reasons unknown, but probably due to it's age, it was always called "the Junk", but as far as I recall it was100% reliable. In those days in Auatralia a new car was not easy to acquire. The FJ Holden that replaced the Dodge was on an 18 months waiting list. And I think Dad preferred the Junk.

Get a copy of 'It Happened One Night' in which she starred with Clark Gable. Worth it just for the hitchhiking scene.
