Faded car photos from 1903 in Hungary

Photos of old cars are sometimes very good but in this case definitely not. Sent by Pal Negyesi. A photo we like, a photo in old style 'The year is 1903, the place is probably somewhere in Hungary. Despite the different size of the rear wheels, I believe the two photos depict the same car. There is absolutely no information regarding the car, so any info on what this might be would be warmly welcomed. And no, there was no company in Hungary at that time which made a similar car.'

Enjoy your week!

Since I sent you the photo, I learnt that it was probably taken at a test for number plates. These occurred every once in a while in Budapest, where the cars had their MoT. It was quite a social event in the very early 1900s. This is probably one of those events.

And I just got a call from a Hungarian classic car authority, who identified it as a Peugeot Type 28 from 1900.

And no, it's not a Csonka. Csonka only designed a four-wheel car in 1905.
Anything else, including all the lies and false information spread by the Haris Brothers are just that: lies.

These are different cars. The car in the first image has 12 spokes in the front wheel, and the cor in the second image has but 10. Also, the curve as the running board transitions to the front wing is different in the two images.

While Laurin & Klement started experiments with 4 wheeled vehicles around turn of XIX. century, the safe bet is it NOT product of L&K house. I would look at Nesseldorfer Wagenfabrik products of Benz concept (and with Benz engine) from 1899 instead.

The cars are both Peugeot, most probably of the type 30 or 33, built between 1900 and 1902 and produced in relatively large numbers. Peugeot was already present early in Eastern-European countries: in Hungary a mail van of the similar type 35 was used (and has survived!).

Perhaps one of the first Csonka ??
The company was founded 1896; the early version of a car for post transport has a similar front design.
