Electro Lancia having a wash

After we published the 'Electro Talbot Mystery' we had no idea that it would create such interest. And now we may even have a solution to the mystery. Hugo Modderman came up with this earlier photo of the same car having a wash. Clearly at that time it was a Lambda special. Could the body have been made by Casaro or by Farina? The car then had the Dutch provincial number plate H-58x2 (x is either an 8 or a 2). The car is an eight series and is one of sixty left hand drive Lambdas built. In this picture the exhaust pipe is clearly visible. Hugo (who owns a similar Lancia) suggests the Lancia might have been converted later to electric propulsion. Perhaps during the war due to petrol shortage?

Update by Editor: The photo is not printed in reverse as suggested, the number on the licence plate is clearly visible!

Hi, Keith Humphreys is right, the surplus hood between hood and windscreen is normaly a part of the structurebody on a lambda. The rims are much wider and maybe 18 inch wheels, org. 14/15x50, but still these are michelin bibendum rims if you looke closely. The back of the body looks for me like car. no.16792, a casaro bodied 219 type, driven by verganti and burnt out on the s.martin circuit in argentine 1931. This car here looks like a conversion with maybe a dilambda or Astura v8 engine in, on the 4 zylinder is the exhaust on the left side. The front wings are looking like works-race lambdas.Serie 8 or 9 ?

The exhaust of a Lambda is usually on the other side of the car. Could this have had an engine change as well? Perhaps an Astura engine - with an exhaust on both sides? Unusual to have side mounted spare wheel, too, as they were more commonly mounted on the rear.

Maybe the photo was printed reverse. Lancia Lambdas with original engines have the exhaust exit on the left of the car. maybe an engine transplant?
