Edwardian fights at the Isle of Man.

Each year the Manx Motor Racing Club are the organizers of the Manx Classic, a three day sprint plus hill climb event on the Isle of Man (on the A36 near Port Erin; check the beauty of the landscape ). Last year there was a new trophy especially for Edwardians, which should be right as the Isle of Man played a major role in early motorsport, specifically the 1904 Gordon Bennett Eliminating Trials and the subsequent Tourist Trophy, from 1905 onwards. Our main photo shows Branislav Sudjic with his 1914 Stutz Speedster, but the Edwardian Class was dominated by Clive Press in the ten litre aero engined 1913 Peugeot 148GP, taking Fastest Times on all three courses. Hicky Hickling in the 1911 Sunbeam 16/20 took second in each. The dates for the 2012 Manx Classic are Thursday 26th, Friday 27th and Saturday 28th April. You can still participate... deadline for entries is Saturday 31st March.

Well Clive Press is from Nottingham so probably no relation (my lot are from Somerset) - and I drive a 750 cc Austin Seven from 1928 - but it looks fun!

Tony Press in Australia.

Superb event, we went last year and had a great time! Might not have had the fastest car there (the 1910 Delage) but really enjoyed every minute!

Don't know Clive Press, but if he is from Somerset, we could be related!
His Edwardian is a bit bigger than my 1928 Austin Seven 'Chummy'.

Tony Press, Melbourne.
