Graeme Simpson recoverd this pair of axles from the local tip in November 2011. All in poor condition, heavily corroded, and of unknown origin. It's uncertain whether any parts could be useful. Rudge #62 wheel centres; beaded edge rims about 21" dia. Rear axle: side-by-side brake shoes for hand & foot, without back plates; brake shafts & shoe pivots have Alemite hex. grease nipples; brake levers sit above the rear axle. Tailshaft is missing, possibly full-floating axle shaft assembly. Front axle: brass-encased thrust bearing under axle beam & stub axles sit above the axle; quite wide and straight axle forging. Gaeme would appreciate any information which could help to identify the vehicle from which these parts came, hoping to help someone to assist a restoration.
A very interesting find and what sounds like a most satisfactory conclusion. I do hope the parts go to a good home.
Tony, Melbourne.
