Earlier this week in the PreWarCar.com magazine...

Today is the last day of Salon Rétromobile. What a fantastic couple of days did we have already. We met a lot of fascinating, interesting and kind people so far and look forward to today. Please take a look at our websites and Facebook page for photos of the event. If you cannot make it or if you have some free time, we have some interesting features for you to read in last week’s magazine. Enjoy!

Its only original once: 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C1750GT Berlinetta Aerodinamico Mille Miglia by Touring ( Brevette Weymann )

The 6C 1750 that I purchased recently is of a totally different category. After many years I managed to lay my hands on the only surviving of three build special coupes made to be entered for the original Mille Miglia road race.

PreWarCar of the week: 1921 Farman A6 Limousine

This impressive Farman weighs more than 2000 kg's but thanks to the 6,6 liter six-cylinder, it was (and is) still capable to reach a top speed of 140 km an hour. Around 5 Farman cars appear to still be still in existence, one was at Salon Rétromobile.

And so the first Straker Squire 6 arrived in Australia...

The Straker 6, designed by Sir Roy Fedden, has many interesting features.  The OHC engine with separate cylinders is taken from the Rolls aero engine made in numbers by Straker Squire through the war. In 1918, and in new well-equipped ordnance facilities taken over by Straker at war’s end, Fedden produced the engine.

A visit to The Classic Motor Hub

One of the great joys that we have while working at PreWarCar.com is the fantastic places we are able to visit. Last year we had the pleasure of visiting The Classic Motor Hub. When we walked in, we directly stood eye to eye with a bright yellow Aston Martin and heard the noise of a nice 6,5L Bentley.

The first colour photograph of an automobile: a 1902 Renault

The photograph you see here is in all likelihood the first coloured photograph of an automobile. Taken in the year 1906. Which is exactly one year before the Autochrome process patented by brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière in 1903 came on the market.

What is it? Quiz #488

This make has been the subject of the quiz before, but this was an (earlier) type. The manufacturer has been building at one time the most expensive cars in their country and by the time the shown car was built, the factory was located at a real motor city. This gives you enough clues, right?
