Double steering wheels

In real I saw a Renault R5 in 1987 in Casablanca (Morocco) and I ask myself why. It was a school drive car. The idea  comes from long time ago. Recently I discovered a picture of a car in Torino (Italy), maybe a FIAT 501.

A unique touring car, fitted with double controls including a second steering wheel, was used by the Bournemouth School of Motoring, England between 1915 and 1920. The equipment was designed and built by repair-garage owner and driving instructor Mr. Joseph Bazeley, who rented the car for training and seaside pleasure trips from three Guineas:

“This special car is available for holiday-makers who desire to enjoy a motor-run, with the additional pleasure of actually driving the car one’s self with perfect security despite the lack of any previous experience.”

A twin-steered car was also built in Washington, U.S.A. in 1926 by traffic officials, for driver training and for testing to find out if drunks were capable of driving it safely...
