Two commuting mysteries

A new Monday, a new week. And new unidentified photos waiting for you. Old pictures of the family album with old cars. Most people still have them. And a lot of people want to know what exactly is in the pictures. Some people just like to ID photos in order to be able to sell those a better price. And right they are! Photos often sell very well through these pages.

A friend of Peter French found these two pictures and had a similar question. Both photos were shot around 1948 showing father and grandfather with their pride. As usual your help is well appreciated.

The first car is a post war '46-'48 Humber Hawk, pre-war cars had running boards. Can't be a (Super) Snipe either, or it would have had the larger headlamps.

Both cars date from the late 1930s; the first photo shows a 1938 Humber Snipe, the second car is an SS Jaguar of similar date.

The first photo is of a Humber Snipe either immediately prewar 1939 or post war 1946.
The same years would apply to the Jaguar in photo 2 which, by the smaller headlights, is probably a one and a half litre 4 cylinder model

the second one (ENX997) is a 1,5 liter Jaguar Mk IV. it is not a 2,5 or 3,5 Lt because of the smaller headligts and short bonnet.
