The great big hole being this big 6 cylinder 5.3 litre sleeve valve engine. It comes with a Minerva that has been bought by Bartosz Cieluch from Poland. Bartosz was told that the Minerva was a 1926 Type AC, but now he’s not so sure as his Minerva is different from what he has seen in other Minerva’s. Apart from the broken engine, it has a shortened chassis and a totally different rear suspension, like it was remodelled into a sporty tourer. However, the frame has some terrible looking weldings and the body has also been butchered. Therefore Bartosz plans to bring the chassis back to its proper length and fit it with a new skiff type body. The Minerva came from the US in 1991 and via the UK was sold with the broken engine to a Belgian owner in 1992. It was put into storage and unearthed again last summer. Who knows more about this Minerva’s history? Help us!
Update III comes from Bob McGrath: "I'm not at all surprised at half a Minerva turning up from Victoria, Australia. In the early 50's I lived a few miles from a timber mill at Tawonga South in North East Victoria (Melbourne was the nearest big city, 200 miles away) The timber mill used a couple of ex-WWII tanks and other odd vehicles to pull logs out of the bush and move them around the mill. One of these odd vehicles consisted of the front half of a Minerva and mystery back half with a big tow hook. The only body was a bare seat for the drive to sit on. Nothing else. The mill employees said the mystery back end had been put on because it was lower geared and the result could pull logs easier. The Minerva had disappeared from the timber mill by the time I got my drivers licence in 1956 which was also about the time this Minerva appeared in Melbourne. I think it is the same car. It was never cut and shut to make a special. It was cut up to make a cheap tractor to pull logs around a sawmill."
