Classics at the Palace

Classics at the Palace - under new ownership and on a new unique location. This year the International Concours d’Elegance will be held on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th of August. The beautiful grounds of Soestdijk – with its classicistic palace and estate – will be showing you automobiles from the past but also some future/electric vehicles. Besides these – very likely – perfectly polished classics, you can see PreWarCars in action during the exciting ENI sprint which promises to be very spectacular. Royal cars will be shown and there will be a royal fair. Special club displays will show you their pride and the fashion shows, art galleries and certainly not unimportant the food trucks make it an outing for the whole family. A varied program with the Classic cars in the lead!

The 10 themes at this year’s International Concours d’Elegance are:

  • 100 years of Citroën
  • 100 years of Bentley
  • Fiat special coachwork of the 50 & the 60s
  • Super Sportscars of the 80s
  • Special Pre-War coachwork
  • Special Post-War coachwork
  • Gentlemen`s Sportscars up to 1975
  • Preservation Class (Pre-War)
  • London Brighton, with pre-1904 vehicles
  • Forgotten British sports pioneers

We can already give you a sneak preview of some of the cars taking part in the Concours d’Elegance! With a 4,5 litre Le Mans Blower with Vandenplas body and a 1927 6.5 litre Bentley on display, we can certainly celebrate 100 years of Bentley! Among the special pre-war coachworks are a Lincoln Model L Dual Phaeton and a 1921 Spyker C4 Torpedo. The Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Zagato, the Berlinetta Aerodinamica and very impressive Alfa 8c Botticella shows Italy's best! The PostWarClassics you can admire the 24th and 25th of August amongst many others are a 1963 Autobianchi Stellina, a BMW M1, a 1949 Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport, a Mini Marcos GT and a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Limousine Laundaulette which was previously owned by Princess Juliana.

Partner of the event

As PreWarCar.com is a partner of the event and has `adopted` the London Brighton class for all pre-1904 vehicles, we can already tell you that a 1901 DeDion Bouton Vis-à-Vis, a Minerva (the first year this Belgian brand made cars under their own name) and a 20hp Aster (which can be seen in the picture) will be on show. There will be a beautiful Societe Manufacture D’Armes Landaulette and a little 8hp Star on display. Will this Star car become the ‘star’ of the show? We are still looking for an unrestored PreWarCar to complete the unrestored class. Send us an e-mail if you would like to proudly show your unrestored veteran to the public.

The PreWarCar.com and PostWarClassic.com team will also be present! In our active display, we will be showing a (replica) Benz Patent-Motorwagen. This three-wheeled vehicle with a rear-mounted engine is widely regarded as the world's first production automobile. Jos van Genugten from the PreWarWorkshop will be giving various demonstrations throughout the weekend. He will show the public how to start and drive the Benz Patent-Motorwagen and will answer all your questions about the automobile. If you are lucky you might be able to hop on and drive around the beautiful grounds of Soestdijk.

Of course, it would be wonderful if you can make it to the event. Especially if you can bring your classic car to the palace! But if you for whatever reason cannot make it to Soestdijk, you can always follow us via our websites, Facebook, PreWarCar Instagram and PostWarClassic Instagram. Here we will give you live updates of the event.

We hope to see you all with your Classics at the Palace!
